As we continue through the month of friendship and love, Jennifer, from Eco Warrior Princess and I, also continue with our #FriendshipFeb collaboration. For this week’s post we decided to speak on our thoughts about beauty and what our daily beauty regime looks like. Together we will share some insightful eco beauty tips and tricks on how to be green, all while still looking fabulous. Head over to Jennifer’s blog here to read about her beauty secrets.
When it comes to my beauty routine, I try my best to keep it as green and organic as possible. I genuinely enjoy wearing makeup and getting glammed up, because what girl doesn’t? Although, I do understand the necessity in letting your skin breathe and also appreciate real natural beauty. Ultimately, my beauty routine is a nice balance between my love for makeup and my au natural look.
Being both green and glamorous is very much attainable. You see, you don’t have to compromise ladies! Organic/green beauty and glam are coming together slowly and are really hitting the masses, and for a very good reason too! Most of our beauty/makeup products that are advertised on mainstream media outlets are toxic and filled with cancerous chemicals; that later down the line will have a high ticket price to pay for, when it comes to our health and beauty in our later years. For example, beauty products like NARS which are very popular amongst the makeup artistry community, for their awesome performing makeup, are unfortunately packed with carcinogens having strong ties to breast cancer. One of the main ingredients in their powder foundation is Octinoxate, which is known to disrupt estrogenic and thyroid activity and is what leads to breast cancer. NARS isn’t the only beauty line which is including toxic chemicals in their makeup; there is also MAC, Urban Decay, and many more. These are just a few.
So what does a girl do when the beauty market is saturated with toxic chemicals, yet she wants to remain glamorous? The answer is simple, GREEN GLAM! I have very much embraced the lifestyle and although it comes with having to do a bit of research, you know you can apply makeup without having to compromise your health.
Beauty is an Inside Job
Although makeup is wonderful at defining our outer beauty, let’s not forget that real beauty has nothing to do with our outer shells. Real beauty resonates from the inside out, and if there are ugly feelings on the inside, those ugly feelings will be portrayed on the outside. Being happy, healthy, and loving are ultimately the real secrets to attaining everlasting beauty. Take it from the beautiful Audrey Hepburn as she unveiled the true recipe to real, natural beauty.
Gabriel Beauty products have been one of my new obsessions lately. Their products are vegan, organic, and GMO-free. If you go on their website they list all of their ingredients put in each individual product, along with a description of what exactly it is. Their dual powder foundation is perfect for a beautiful mate finish. I was in need of an organic full coverage makeup and Gabriel makeup is really perfect for the glamorous green girl! 100% pure is another of my favorite beauty products that I personally use. Their products are also organic, vegan, and natural. Their makeup is pigmented with fruits and is 100% pure, hence their company name. They have one of the best jet black mascaras in the organic makeup market.
Sleep is very important in my daily beauty regime. If I don’t get my daily 7-8 hours of sleep I don’t feel myself, and the long-term effects of lack of sleep aren’t pretty.
Oiling my body completely before and after I shower has become one of my favorite beauty rituals. Not only is it known to bring the body to complete relaxation, but it also leaves your body feeling so amazingly smooth. I like to use Freeman Beauty oil, made from sunflower seeds.
Moisturizing & SPF
Moisturizing is so keen for my facial skin, I tend to get dry skin from time to time so I love to keep my face moisturized at all times. I like to experiment a lot with facial creams; two of my favorites are Andalou natural fruit stem cell cream and Eclos regenerative cream. I also use SPF on my face every day to protect my facial skin from the sun.
Almond oil and castor oil are known to make you lashes longer and fuller. I just recently made a batch and am really looking forward to seeing what the results will be.
What is your daily beauty regime? What are your thoughts on toxic beauty products?
