Hawaii, the land of Aloha and magical vibrations. The perfect place to go on a spiritual pilgrimage within and discover yourself.
This past week I had the opportunity to visit the island of Honolulu, Hawaii. I spent most of my time on the North Shore of Oahu attending Wanderlust Yoga festival. My experience was nothing less than magical. I had the opportunity to practice yoga on the daily with incredible instructors from around the world, eat amazing vegan/veggie food, and soak in vitamin D on the beautiful island. It was the true definition of paradise. I ventured out to the island alone (something that is completely out of my comfort zone). I was in dire need of some soul searching, rejuvenation, and a new perspective on life. I was filled with nervousness and anxiety at the thought of traveling alone! I am a city girl, so this trip was crossing way over the lines of my comfort radius. The funny thing is that as soon as I boarded the plane, I began to connect with amazing people from all walks of life. Every encounter I had on my travel was special to me and added onto my realization that life and everyone in it is great! It was almost like I was attracting these people to me, to help me come to the realization of life's daily joys. There is so much more to life than the measly bubble I live in. We all need to just stop and truly live in the present moment.
Traveling alone is really an amazing experience! Sure it was scary at first, especially being a female and traveling alone. Truth is, the unknown is always going to be scary in the beginning, it's just a matter of giving things a chance. Then, suddenly the unknown truly becomes exciting! There is a freedom that comes when you travel alone, you automatically become more open and receptive to your surroundings and the people around you. I started to notice the little things that I probably wouldn't have cared about if were in my bubble at home. I had complete freedom of my days and experiences. It was a remarkable and liberating feeling knowing that I went into Hawaii knowing not one single human being, but I got to walk away with amazing memories and friends that I will never ever forget. Mahalo Hawaii, I truly left a piece of my heart on your island.
Tiny Time Machines is an online company based out of Los Angeles California. This amazing company manufactures the most unique watches, NOW watches. They all read phrases like NOW or MOMENT, and the best thing of all is you never have to adjust your time on daylight savings! Tiny Time Machines are out on a mission to help bring people to the present, the NOW, calling these revolutionaries TIME BANDITS. I had the pleasure of interviewing the man behind the Tiny Time Machines, Garni Sohrabian. Check out their site and purchase a watch to join in on the STILLNESS MOVEMENT!!
A couple of months after selling my ownership in the last company, I found an old wall clock I had bought 8 years earlier. I had never used it, I really don't like clocks. I only bought it because it said “The Truth” on it. Something about it made me keep it all those years. As I was looking at it that day I realized something. The time is always now. The clock should say now, that is the truth. When we shed the illusions of labels and immerse into the present we feel the unity of all things. This is how "The Truth" gave birth to tiny time machines.
I felt a pull so strong that I could not ignore it. It really didn’t feel like I was brave or strong, it felt more like I had no choice. The voice inside had grown so loud that I could not ignore it any longer. I think that some of us feel that pull quite strongly, we can’t move to the same tick tocks the others seem to do so effortlessly.
1. Be here now
2. Repeat number 1
3. See number 2
The mountain. It really saved me when I had lost myself. It taught me to see things from above again when I had lost that vision. And from above, it is clear that the universe knows what it is doing.
I don’t resist the wandering. I don’t think the wandering is the issue actually. I think the issue is when we resist and try to force it to move in another direction. I let it wander, and quite often it leads me to wonderful places, even if it sometimes starts in muddy waters. Nature created us as magnificent organic ever-changing creatures. If we truly immerse and let our minds and feet wander, we may discover new wonders.
Being an entrepreneur makes each day quite unpredictable. There is no such thing as a typical day. One day I may be in the mountain writing all day, and the next be working on analysis and marketing strategies. I have to become whatever the situation asks of me, so in a way there is no Garni in a day in the life of Garni. It is quite the exercise in letting go of the ego for the sake of the vision to be manifested.
Santa Barbara. I lived there for 3 years. I feel like it has the best of all worlds. I love the nature, weather, and culture.
Noooo hahaha. But the funny thing is that I am not against clocks. I understand the need for them. Our whole point is to not get STUCK in the future or past or other symbols/labels. We are infinite creatures. We may need to use agreed labels such as time to communicate, but we have to beware of the dangers to confuse the label with the real organic thing. The world is pulling us in another direction with things like smart phones and hash tags for example. Labels and symbols are eating us up and making us forget our infinity. But you are none of that. You are the entire universe manifest in this eternal moment. Don’t let them make you believe that you are anything less than infinite!
